This Week
I was sidelined with a cold and a nasty infection at the end of last week, so I havent exercised in 5 days. Also, I had to go to the doctor this week for that diagnosis, and found out that I NOW WEIGH MORE THAN I EVER HAVE IN MY WHOLE LIFE, including more than I said I would gain if I ever got pregnant. (Note: I have never considered getting pregnant, but have considered what my body would look like pregnant, and I know I would become a puffy Muppet version of myself, and not a cute, shiny-haired, skinny from behind, TV-pregnant.)
Anyway, I'm more motivated than ever to get down to it, and now I have a new weight goal. My first reaction is to jump in and work out super hard and eat a super strict diet to get going and make up for my sick weekend. But I've read that's probably not the way to go, and a good way to hurt yourself and/or get discouraged. So here are my health goals for the week!
GOALS:
1. Work out for at least 1 hour, 3 times this week.
2. Keep track of everything I eat on MFP.
3. Drink more water than coffee during the day at work.
4. Weigh myself at the end of the week even if I don't want to.
That's it. I'm going to start slow and steady. But very motivated!!

First Things First
FIRST:
I am not a doctor. All opinions are my own. Photos and recipes and such will be credited to their original authors, to the best of my abilities, so help me lord. I'm not telling people how to live.
Next:
One tool I'm using to start taking better care of my health is to actually keep track of what I eat, and what I weigh, and using it to track my progress. I'm a big fan of My Fitness Pal, which keeps up with all that for you. It counts nutrition facts automatically (so you don't have to google everything you eat individually after you try to remember it hours later and you threw the box out already). And it has a fun phone app!

Welcome, Yall!
I've started writing here because I have decided to get serious about making some healthy changes in my life. Wait. Actually, I've decided to get serious about making healthy changes, but I've started writing here because I want people to know about it. Why am I telling people? Why not just, you know, freaking do it and not make a deal about it? Well, because if I tell people about it, maybe then it will actually happen.
The thing is, this isn't my first rodeo. I've tried several times in the last few years to get healthier. But for a variety of reasons (see: excuses), it hasn't worked out. I've decided that I'm simply running out of time (see: excuses) and the time to do it, REALLY DO IT, is now. It's something that's gone from just a nagging sense in the back of my mind to more of an all-consuming distraction right now. Because so many other things I adore (food, clothes, drinking, shopping...) revolve around how I look and feel about my body right now.
So, I would like to use this blog as a place to post my progress (whatever it is), motivational and inspirational stuff, recipes, fitness ideas, and, probably a lot of photos of cute clothes and animals because that's just who I am.
Enjoy!
